The Consortium

The iTalk2Learn consortium is a mix of academic and commercial partners who bring experience and expertise in machine learning, speech recognition, maths pedagogy, video game design and online tutoring.


Management Structure

iTalk2Learn is a collaborative research project for Technology Enhanced Learning, funded by the European Commission 7th Framework Programme Call 8 (FP7-ICT-2011-8).

The coordinator of the project is Professor Lars Schmidt-Thieme. Prof. Lars Schmidt-Thieme is head of the Information Systems and Machine Learning Lab (ISMLL) at the University of Hildesheim. He is responsible for the overall management and acts as an intermediary between the commission and the consortium. Together with Prof Dr Nikol Rummel (Ruhr-Universität Bochum) and Dr Manolis Mavrikis (London Knowledge Lab) they act as Scientific Executive Board (SEB), responsible for the scientific coordination of the project.
